Jamie MacDonald, from the UK, tied for Best Director of a Short Film at Scorpiusfest 2023 for “Two Hundred and Eighty Days”.
With Two Hundred and Eighty Days, I approached my friends (the other actors) with the idea of wanting to write a short film set in one location with one central theme. The film touches on miscarriage and how as a society, we still consider it somewhat taboo, especially among male friends. Men tend to avoid discussing their grief and experience during a miscarriage with their partner. I found that many of my friends have gone through the experience of a miscarriage, and the men in the relationships never seem to feel comfortable opening up to their friends about it. And whilst the film took on a life of its own once we started writing it, the theme is central to the story.
